City of Nolanville Receives National Recognition
KCEN TV, December 3, 2007

Parents looking for a great place to raise their kids need look no further than Nolanville. Business Week.com named Nolanville one of the top cities in the nation to raise kids.
Business Week.com conducted a study to find the top 50 cities in the U.S. to raise kids for less money, and Central Texas' very own Nolanville took its place at number 29 on the list.
Nolanville,Texas is more than a great place to live, according to Business Week.com, Nolanville is a great place to raise kids.
"I received a call and someone told me we were the 29th in, I believe, the country, uh of the best place to rear children and well, I already knew that because I reared my three children here." Nolanville Mayor Carolyn Sterling said.
The city with a population of a little over 2,100 people placed 29th out of 50 cities that are the best places to raise kids for less based on academic test scores, cost of living, recreational and cultural activities, number of schools and risk of crime.
And Nolanville's mayor says as expected, the national recognition comes with big shoes to fill.
"I think we can, we can handle that and try to live up to that and maybe if they do it again in a few years from now, maybe we'll be up a little bit higher." Sterling added.
And while the ranking comes as a surprise to some residents, "Nolanville's really not ever heard of. I mean people don't, when I tell people I live in Nolanville, they don't know anything about it."
Audra Cornwall said. Most agree the 'neighborhood-feel' of Nolanville can't be beat.
"The streets are quiet, I feel like when we're playing outside that, that it's not too busy for my kids to be out playing whether it's in the front or the back.
Um, um, it's really easy to use the post office, so when you have a deployed husband, it's really easy to sent things too and from, because it's really friendly."
Tamara Seeger said. Nolanville not the only Texas town ranked among the top 50. The South Texas town of Lackland which is right outside of San Antonio ranked number eight on the list.

Announcement by the developer, 'Bare Land Devlopment, Inc.'
September, 2007

Nolanville visionary, John Blankenship realized from the start there would be a need to bring additional professional development and building expertise to the Bella Charca team.   He said, “In adding long-time central Texas builder/developers Jim Howe (Omega Builders – www.omegabuilders.com) and John Kiella (Kiella Home Builders – www.kiella.com), we have complemented the development team with enormous talent and more than 60-years combined experience.

First on our agenda is the development of a master plan, for the reminder of the Bella Charca land holdings, which will complement the enormously successful first Phase I with more custom home sites and areas for additional home price ranges, green space, recreation, with internal access to Nolanville Elementary School for the premier residential community in Bell County.

Nolanville's new upscale housing development is raising eyebrows around Texas and raising hopes for the city.  Builders from Fort Worth, Austin and Salado have taken interest in Bella Charca - a 325 acre subdivision off Old Nolanville Road that is incorporating natural beauty with high-end housing.

Though only Section One of the project has been platted, Bella Charca developer John Blankenship said with four more sections in the making, the total build-out will be close to 600 homes.  "Eventually this place will have more people than the city," he said.  That is something officials of the 2,000 resident town are looking forward to.

After filling the first 50 developed lots within 30 days of opening, Blankenship came back to the council for approval of 21 additional lots in January to be added into the subdivision's first phase of building.  "We expect those to be sold the moment they becomes available," he said.  Blankenship said he is overwhelmed by the support the city has given to him and the builders.  Mayor Mike Carter said this is an important addition to the city and is something it cares about.  "We're on the radar screen," he said.
